Five Minute Friday: Write

ebook-3d

The words I heard coming out of my grandmother’s mouth were a shock to me. “You’re gonna write a book some day. I really believe God wants you to tell the stories of all He has done in your life.” After the shock wore off, I began to ponder her words. Could it really be true? Could I really be a writer?

Then quite a few years later in 2004, I was taking part in a ministry conference at a church several hours away from home. During that long weekend, a deacon I met at the conference looked at me intently and said, “You’re going to write a book.” I laughed out loud and he looked at me funny. I said, “That’s what my grandmother has been telling me for years.” I left that conference beginning to believe maybe I would write a book someday.

It’s been nine years since the conference and it’s surreal to write about my very first eBook, Prayers of a Mother’s Heart. It’s a book of prayers and a few personal stories written for mothers who are searching for answers for their children’s lives. It’s for mothers who are desperate, and have nowhere else to turn, but to God. The ultimate goal of the book is to point mothers toward Christ and a life of prayer.

There has been a relentless battle in my mind about being a writer. I am choosing to push the doubt and fear away. I finally believe God has called me to do this.

Am I nervous? Totally!

But I am pressing forward and finalizing the details about my eBook to be published on Amazon.com. I’ll be posting about the release date in the weeks ahead.

I’m stepping out in faith to write for Christ.

If you would like to be a part of my ‘Support Team’ and receive a complimentary copy of my eBook once it’s finalized, please contact me by October 15th through email: amy (@) liveabundantlynow.com. The only thing I’ll ask in return is that you would leave a review on Amazon.com once it’s released.

I’m linking up for Five Minute Friday whereΒ Lisa Jo Baker and other awesome people write for five minutes flat with no self critiquing or no striving for perfection. This week’s prompt is: “Write.” I wrote for about ten minutes today.

10 Thoughts on “Five Minute Friday: Write

  1. Good for you!
How awesome God spoke through two people on two different occasions to confirm your calling to write.
I will sign up for that ebook and write a review.
5minfri has been such a blessing in my life, in that every week I am amazed at what comes out of me as I write based on the prompt, and I always carefully read and comment on the 5 posts link ups before me. It always speaks and inspires me in such a relevant way. Yesterday I started, after months of putting it off to back shelf in my mind, the first pecking out of my first ebook.
Last night I was thinking that if I was “gonna do this thing”, regardless of how long my process takes, I am going to have to start getting to know and dare I say it, “network” (i hate that word…so ugh) with other ebook writers. And here you are!
    So God’s blessings and Cheers!

Leah, I am so happy for you to be a part of my team! How great that the Lord had you link up close to me today when you were just thinking about networking last night. I agree, I don’t like to think of it as being a “network” either. We can think of it more as being sisters in Christ helping each other to live out our callings. Again, THANK YOU, for joining me in this adventure. I’ll be contacting you within a few weeks, once the book is finalized. Have a beautiful weekend. πŸ™‚

One more thing…I want to say congratulations to you for starting to work on your first eBook! That’s AWESOME! You can do it! Christ gives all of us the strength to do those things He’s called us to do.

  2. How wonderful that you’ve found your story!

  3. Oooh, I’m jealous. People actually tell you that you *are* going to write a book. I just get them to say, that I *should* write a book.

I’m here from Five Minute Friday. Good for you.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Cynthia. This whole book writing thing is totally out of my comfort zone. If my grandmother had not told me over and over that I was going to write a book, I feel certain I would have never done it. My grandmother’s words surely inspired me to become a writer and then her words were confirmed by the deacon at the conference.

I pray that God will encourage you every day as a writer through the words of others. Have a beautiful weekend. πŸ™‚

I have one thing to add to my reply to your comment…I want to be the first person to proclaim, “You ‘are’ going to write a book!” Believe it! Let me know when you’re finished writing it! πŸ™‚

  4. I love that you found out that you’d be writing a book via divine sources. I look forward to hearing about the release date because I’m fascinated by the title Prayers of a Mother’s Heart and promise of helping mothers search for answers. In fact, I’m particularly interested in whether you included dealing with special needs…

Thanks, Kristi, for your kind comment and interest in my book. I didn’t include any stories in the book concerning special needs. I actually considered including some testimonies of children with developmental delays and downs syndrome, and how prayer impacted their lives positively. I may include those stories in a future book.

The message of my eBook is that Christ is able and wants to do what seems impossible from our standpoint. It’s a book for mothers who are at a loss as to what to do and their only hope is in the divine power of God.

I realize that my description in my Five Minute Friday post may have been vague and may have given the impression that I wrote a book of answers for mothers. My desire is to communicate that the book points mothers to Christ. He is the One who truly has all the answers for each of our children. I wrote the post so quickly, trying not to go much over the five minutes of allotted time. I may add a little more detail to this post to clarify what the book includes.

I pray that you will have a peaceful week. Blessings to you! πŸ™‚
