THE WONDER-WORKING POWER OF PRAYER

After taking a long break from writing on my blog, I sensed God nudging me to write a new post. Writing about prayer has been on my mind and seems to be the topic that resonates with many people from all backgrounds. Countless people are suffering and need God’s divine intervention, but they have not discovered that prayer is the most important part of the Christian life.

Earlier today, I received a text message from a friend, and she shared about reading one of my blog posts that was sent to her email inbox twice. The interesting thing about it is this: I posted it sixteen months ago in 2024. The post was sent to her this morning by an error within the software on my blog. She was blessed to read it as the words in the post related to the season she’s walking in currently. It feels as though the post being sent to my friend today was a direct answer to my prayers because I have been praying often for her in recent days. God must have thought she needed to read it today instead of last year when I posted it. God is so faithful to answer prayers, and His timing is always perfect.

I stay in awe of God and how He answers my prayers. Even after decades of experiencing the wonders of prayer, I still get very excited every time God answers the cries of my heart. Constantly, I see evidence that the Lord is hearing my prayers and answering them in awesome ways. Even today as I was in the middle of writing this post, I received an incredible update from a family member I’ve been praying for. As I listened to my loved one talking, I was praising Jesus for answering my specific prayers. As I’ve proclaimed previously: “God did it again!”

Prayer is what connects us to our lifeline—Jesus Christ. Christ’s power is released in our lives as we pray and live by faith. It’s through prayer that our lives are transformed and we can make it through life victoriously.

Prayer is the way we connect with the ONE who has the power to change hard circumstances and transform us into the image of Christ.

The Bible says to pray continually and give thanks to God in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:17-18).

There’s no pressure to pray in a certain way or in a perfect place. I have a prayer closet in my house that I love. It’s so cozy to me. But I have other favorite spots to pray. I love to pray on my porch. I love to pray in the sitting room in my basement. I love to pray in the guest bedroom and in our main living area.  I love to pray while sitting on a bench in a flower garden outside. I love to pray while I’m in the car and while I’m walking for exercise. I’ve even found solace while sitting on my bathroom floor and praying in the evening before I get ready to go to sleep. I love praying in so many places because it’s a life of prayer that makes every single day worth living.

I want to share a few pictures of my prayer closet. I chose a bright, floral rug for my prayer closet because it reminds me of my mom. The swords are symbolic of the power we have through Christ to fight the spiritual battle we face every day. The large sword was my stepdad’s sword. Before my stepdad passed away, this sword was hanging on a wall in the church that he and my mom planted (along with the leaders from the previous church they served at). The Bible on the floor was my grandmother’s Bible, and I cherish it.

This is a picture of the other side of my prayer closet. The wood sign that says: “WALK IN FAITH” belonged to my mom. She had it on a shelf in her prayer room before she passed away. The colorful floor cushion is one of the best gifts I’ve ever received. My husband gave it to me years ago, and I absolutely love it. I call it a “prayer pad.” It’s exactly what I needed because I love to be on the floor when I pray.

This is my mom’s prayer room in the house she lived in during the last years of her life. I love her prayer room. Happy memories flood my mind every time I look at this photo.

After getting a glimpse of my prayer closet, I hope you are inspired to pray more and trust God to do what only He can do. If you don’t know what to pray, the Bible says the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness, and the Spirit intercedes for us with groaning too deep for words (Romans 8:26). You can simply rest in Christ and rely on His Spirit. There’s no formula for prayer. Talk to God in your own style and let the Holy Spirit lead you. If you’re struggling to trust God, you can say a prayer as simple as this: “Help me, God. Fill me with more faith and never let me out of Your embrace.”

A life defined by prayer is peaceful and joyful because as we pray, we stay anchored to the SOURCE of everything we need. As you take steps toward Jesus each day, may you experience the wonder-working power of prayer.

TRUSTING CHRIST WHEN LIFE IS HARD

Walking with Christ is the securest place to be when life is filled with hard challenges. It’s through a close relationship with Him that we can find perfect peace and hear His guiding voice in our hearts. The more we sit still and seek Christ through prayer, the more we can discern the direction He is leading us.

The Lord promises us that He will make firm the steps of those who delight in Him and He will uphold us with His hand.

When we turn to Christ in our hard moments, we can rest in His love, walk with confidence, and know He has us in the palms of His hands.

No matter what you may be facing today, Christ has good plans for you. Lean into Him when you’re afraid or hurting. He will strengthen you. You can trust Him because He is perfectly trustworthy.

“The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.”

Psalm 37:23-24

Beloved Jesus,

Thank You for Your amazing love. Thank You for being our rock and rescuer. Help us when we stumble and keep us from falling into the darkness in the world. Give us strength when we are weak. May You always keep us in the palms of Your hands and lift us up daily. I pray in Your name, Christ. Amen.

I hope you enjoy my new favorite song by Aaron Cole. May Christ’s peace flood your soul and may you dance in the hard moments of life.

Grace and peace to you,

Amy
