LOVE IS WHAT OUR WORLD NEEDS

On this Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I am thanking God for his life and legacy. I agree with Dr. King’s words. Love is the highest good, indeed. Love is what our world desperately needs. In 2024, may we go forth as conduits of Christ’s love.

LORD,

Thank You for the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Help us to always remember that love is the highest good we can do in our lives.  Help us show honor to every human and help us embrace our differences. Bring unity among us and help us live a life of love. Fill us with more of Your love so that we can make a difference in the world every day. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

EMBRACING CHRIST’S LOVE & LETTING HIS LIGHT SHINE IN YOU

There is one thing I want to shout to the world: JESUS LOVES YOU more than your mind can comprehend.

Ephesians 2:14-19 (NLV) says: “For this reason, I bow my knees and pray to the Father. It is from Him that every family in heaven and on earth has its name. I pray that because of the riches of His shining-greatness, He will make you strong with power in your hearts through the Holy Spirit. I pray that Christ may live in your hearts by faith. I pray that you will be filled with love.  I pray that you will be able to understand how wide and how long and how high and how deep His love is. I pray that you will know the love of Christ. His love goes beyond anything we can understand. I pray that you will be filled with God Himself.”

Knowing the depth of Christ’s love for us—especially when we are in a broken state—truly sets us free. His love sets people free from shame, guilt, and condemnation. Knowing how deeply we are loved by Jesus enables us to be strengthened by His Spirit. When we know how deeply we are loved by Christ we experience true peace and joy every day.

God is not disappointed in you and does not want to condemn anyone. There is absolutely no shame in having weaknesses. Whether people like to admit it or not, every single person on the earth has imperfections. We all make mistakes every day. Why would people need a SAVIOR if they were perfect?

Joy oozes out of the soul as we embrace the reality that we are deeply loved and cherished by a gracious Savior.

The words in Galatians 2:20-21 show us that righteousness comes from the Spirit of Christ dwelling within us. Apostle Paul said: “I have been crucified with Christ [that is, in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body I live by faith [by adhering to, relying on, and completely trusting] in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. I do not ignore or nullify the [gracious gift of the] grace of God [His amazing, unmerited favor], for if righteousness comes through [observing] the law, then Christ died needlessly. [His suffering and death would have had no purpose whatsoever.]”

Our freedom in Christ is the beauty of the gospel message. Jesus came and died so that we could live an abundant life and be eternally free from torment. He took the punishment for our sins by dying on the cross for us. There is no pressure to live righteously in our own strength. With the Lord, we are able to walk in His righteousness. We are made righteous as Christ fills us with His Holy Spirit after we place our faith in Him for salvation.

The Bible says that the goodness of God leads you to repentance (Romans 2:4). Knowing how deeply Jesus loves us causes us to fall on our knees in repentance when we sin.

We are free to live abundantly because we have Jesus—the ONE who loves us just as we are in our brokenness. His love is the healing balm and makes us want to change our sinful ways. We can rejoice in knowing that Christ’s light shines brightly and magnificently through the cracks of broken vessels.

Hallelujah.

This year, may you embrace Christ’s love, live FREELY in Christ, and let His light shine in you more brightly than ever. If you have not accepted Christ’s amazing gift of salvation, please join the family of God today. I’m sharing the link for a simple prayer for you:

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER: LORD, POUR OUT YOUR LOVE, LIFE, AND LIBERTY

Today is the NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER in America. The theme for the year is: “Lord, pour out Your love, life, and liberty.” As I was pondering the theme of this year, I remembered some words I had written in 2013 about how important it is to be filled with God’s love. The Lord gave me a revelation about the importance of walking in His love during the end times. It was a powerful and life-changing revelation for me, so I sense Christ leading me to share these words.

I heard the Lord say how critical it is to live in His love. Those who are not living and walking in His love continually are going to feel defeated. The words in quotation marks are what I wrote during my prayer time about eight years ago.

During these perilous times while the enemy is wreaking havoc on people, you will be safe if you remain in My love. Remain in My love and you will see miracle after miracle. It is My love that releases My power in your lives. As you walk in My love, you will be empowered to do great things on the earth. While the world gives way to darkness, you will rise up and shine brightly because of My unconditional love exuding from within you. Make it your highest priority to grow in My love daily. The love you show toward one another will be what draws lost souls into the kingdom of God. It is critical that you live in My love every day until the end of the age. My love will be the defining factor that separates the wheat from the tares and will produce a harvest of pure souls ready for my second coming. Those who are not grounded in My love will fall away from their faith. Ask Me daily to fill your heart to overflowing with My love. Meditate on the scriptures in 1 Corinthians 13 and always remember that My love never fails.”

During those moments of hearing Christ whispering to my heart, I realized that one of our most effective ways to overcome darkness is to walk in Christ’s love continually. I had never thought of love as a way to fight our spiritual battles until the Lord said those words to me. At that time, I realized how vulnerable we are to spiritual warfare when we step out of Christ’s love toward others.

There can be no darkness where there is love. God is love. His light will always remain in us as long as we remain in His love. I believe that loving Christ and sharing Christ’s love with others are our greatest purposes for being on the earth.

As we pray for the Lord to pour out love, life, and liberty, let’s ask Him to make us vessels of His love every day. While walking in God’s love, we will bring true liberty and life to our country.

LORD,

Thank You for Your everlasting love for us. Our world is in desperate need of Your love. Please pour our Your love on us today and every day. Help us to lead others to Your saving grace and show them that true life is found in Christ alone. Bring liberty to the ones who are oppressed and set countless people free as they look to You. Use us as mighty vessels of Your love to bring change to our country and ultimately in our world. I pray in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

“By this all people will know that you are My disciples: if you have love for one another.” John 13:35

“Truly, truly I say to you, the one who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I am going to the Father.” John 14:12

“Just as the Father has loved Me, I also have loved you; remain in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love. These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full. This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that a person will lay down his life for his friends. You are My friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, because all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you. You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you. This I command you, that you love one another.”  John 15:9-17

“Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away with; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away with. ” 1 Corinthians 13:8

“And at that time many will fall away, and they will betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will rise up and mislead many people. And because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will become cold.” Matthew 24:10-12

LOVE ONE ANOTHER AND PRAY FOR RACISM TO END

There are only a few things that break my heart as much as the wickedness of racism. It’s really unbelievable that anybody could treat someone horribly or kill them because of their skin color. My mind cannot comprehend this evil.

A week ago, one of the most horrid crimes took place on American soil. George Floyd’s life was taken from him violently—a precious soul was lost in the worst kind of hate crime. There are no words to express the deep compassion and empathy I feel for his family and for our nation that is mourning over this wicked crime.

The pain of the devastating injustice has caused many people to turn to violence, and riots have begun breaking out in the city I was born in—where I currently live nearby in the suburbs. I empathize with the ones who are hurt and angry, but repaying evil with evil is senseless. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said it perfectly: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

Throughout the week, I’ve prayed and thought about how desperately our world needs love more than anything else. There is a song that has a perfect message for this time of turmoil. “What the World Needs Now is Love,” is the name of a song that was popular when I was growing up. I have vivid memories of singing this song at the top of my lungs as a little girl. It was one of my favorite songs then and it still is now.

I’ve been obsessed with God and HIS LOVE throughout my life. Love is truly what the world needs. God’s love is enough to conquer anything. Evil may be increasing on the earth, but love overpowers it all.

As we love one another as Christ loves us, we will see the world begin to change.

Only Christ can empower us to love the ones who mistreat us. As we spend time in prayer, Christ pours His love into our hearts, so that we can pour it out on others and make an impact while we’re passing through the earth.

Our generation is living in an unprecedented time of hatred. Many have turned away from God because they don’t know that His true nature is love. God is love. (1 John 4:8).

Christianity can be summed up in one word: LOVE.

One of the ways we can love our neighbor is to ask forgiveness for the sins of the past. It is very healing to acknowledge the excruciating pain that our African American brothers and sisters have experienced.

As I’ve been writing and contemplating the condition of our world, I wept many tears for the ones who have been victims of injustices. I’ve felt embarrassed for the horrid mistakes of our country’s forefathers. Slavery has tormented this nation. Precious people were dehumanized, shamed, humiliated, and demoralized by slavery. It was a terribly evil, inhuman act of hatred that no man or woman should ever have to endure. I am so sorry for what our nation tolerated by committing the horrible injustices of slavery and racism. I ask those who may be carrying the pain of racism and slavery, please forgive these terrible sins.

You are beautiful. You are loved. You are made in God’s image. As humans, we have the same blood flowing through our veins. We are one race—all created equal in God’s eyes.

Right now, my most desperate prayer is that we can move forward in the days ahead with a powerful strength we’ve never had before. May we truly walk as a united group of people, in a spirit of unity and wholeness.

Let’s continue to pray passionately for our nation and for all the nations of the world to grow in Christ’s love.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for loving us perfectly and not giving up on our nation. I ask you to comfort George Floyd’s family and bring an end to racism. I ask You to bring healing to every man and woman who has ever been a victim of racism. I ask You to give peace to the ones who are mourning the loss of loved ones due to hate crimes.

Please keep Your hand upon our country and help us to love each other as You love us. Bring unity and a spirit of brotherhood upon our land. Let love begin growing throughout every city in America. Let Your perfect love rule in the hearts of all Your children and let us be an example to those who do not know how to love yet. Let us all walk together in our diversities as one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Let all races be treated equally with respect and honor. Awaken countless souls with Your love and let the greatest spiritual awakening spread across our country and around the world. I trust You to bring forth a JESUS REVOLUTION in the midst of the turmoil and saves millions of souls in the days ahead. I pray in Christ’s name. Amen.

And He said to him, “‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’ This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’” Matthew 22: 37-39

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” John 13:34

I will be fasting and praying for racism to end. I invite you to fast along with me on Wednesday, June 3rd. I will fast until 6 pm.

A MARRIAGE BUILT ON CHRIST’S LOVE

Shortly after awakening this morning, Michael said, “I sent you something. Go check your email.” After hearing the happy tone of his voice, I knew it was something special he wanted me to see. I hurried over to my computer and my heart leapt when I read the words of the message. In the message, there were lyrics and a video of a brand new song by Keith Urban.

Tears welled up in my eyes as I sat at my desk and listened to the new song. Michael said, “It’s my song for you.” I listened to it repeatedly and said, “It really is the perfect song for when you first met me.” He replied, “Yes, and it’s the perfect song for you today. You’ve helped me so much.”

As the day went on, I pondered Michael’s words. I love the fact that Michael appreciates who I am and what I’ve offered him during the three and a half decades we’ve been married. I am grateful that I could help my husband in so many ways, but I give Christ all of the credit, because it was Him working through me. Christ’s love flowed through me to love Michael through his darkest valleys and greatest disappointments.

While I listened to the new song many times today, it served as a beautiful reminder of the glorious and miraculous things Christ has done in our lives as a married couple. As I listened to the song’s lyrics, my mind was flooded with memories of all that Christ carried us through since we got married in 1985. I thought about the years that Michael was barely hanging on to live his life as he battled through clinical depression. I thought about the many times Michael battled suicidal thoughts in previous years. I thought about the brokenness we had in our marriage during our younger years, and I thanked God again for the miracles He has done to help Michael become a new man.

As I recalled the amazing miracles Christ did in Michael’s life, I wept tears of joy and thought about Christ’s miraculous power that pulled me out of my post-partum depression in 1997.  The only reason we both made it through those hellish days was the fact that Christ pulled us out of a deep, dark pit and redeemed our lives. God made both of us brand new (Corinthians 5:17).

When we were wading through the muck that seemed to hold us captive in the dark, I could have never dreamed we would be standing strongly together, hand in hand with Christ. He redeemed us with His amazing grace and love.

Through prayer, our marriage was rebuilt firmly on Christ’s love, and His grace is what keeps us going forward together, growing closer to each other every day.

What Christ did for us, He will do for anyone. If our marriage could be healed, anyone’s can. If you are facing a situation in your marriage that seems impossible to overcome, turn to Christ and surrender it all to Him.

You will be amazed by the results of praying a simple prayer: “God, help us through the miry mess.”

Pray together and watch Christ transform your lives. Let Christ and His love change your hearts toward each other. A marriage built on Christ’s love won’t ever fail, because love never fails.

Hallelujah.

LORD,

Thank You for the gift of marriage. Thank You for being our ROCK and REDEEMER. Thank You for Your amazing love and grace. Thank You for rescuing us out of the horrible pit and miry mess. Thank You for making all things possible and bringing forth miracles in our lives. Thank You for hearing our prayers and healing us when we’re broken. Let us pray together often and have strong marriages firmly built on Christ’s love. We will praise You forever and ever. I pray in Christ’s name. Amen.

“He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps.” Psalm 40:2 (NKJV)

GOD’S MERCY ENDURES FOREVER

My heart is filled with compassion for people who are experiencing tragic circumstances in America and other countries. As I was praying about the tragedies in the news, I thought about the enduring mercy of God.

In Psalm 136 (NKJV), it says, “His mercy endures forever.”

1 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.

2 Oh, give thanks to the God of gods! For His mercy endures forever.

Oh, give thanks to the Lord of lords! For His mercy endures forever:

To Him who alone does great wonders. For His mercy endures forever.

To Him who by wisdom made the heavens. For His mercy endures forever.

To Him who laid out the earth above the waters. For His mercy endures forever.

To Him who made great lights. For His mercy endures forever

The sun to rule by day. For His mercy endures forever;

The moon and stars to rule by night. For His mercy endures forever.

10 To Him who struck Egypt in their firstborn. For His mercy endures forever:

11 And brought out Israel from among them. For His mercy endures forever;

12 With a strong hand, and with an outstretched arm. For His mercy endures forever;

13 To Him who divided the Red Sea in two. For His mercy endures forever;

14 And made Israel pass through the midst of it. For His mercy endures forever;

15 But overthrew Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea. For His mercy endures forever;

16 To Him who led His people through the wilderness. For His mercy endures forever;

17 To Him who struck down great kings. For His mercy endures forever;

18 And slew famous kings, For His mercy endures forever—

19 Sihon king of the Amorites. For His mercy endures forever;

20 And Og king of Bashan. For His mercy endures forever—

21 And gave their land as a heritage. For His mercy endures forever;

22 A heritage to Israel His servant. For His mercy endures forever.

23 Who remembered us in our lowly state. For His mercy endures forever;

24 And rescued us from our enemies. For His mercy endures forever;

25 Who gives food to all flesh. For His mercy endures forever.

26 Oh, give thanks to the God of heaven! For His mercy endures forever.

Hallelujah.

Even though it can be tempting for hurting people to feel forgotten by God, it’s a distorted view of God’s character to believe He has given up on anyone. God has not forgotten one single person on the planet, but many have forgotten Him. Our generation is living in an unprecedented time of evil. Many have chosen to turn away from God because they don’t understand His true nature.

God is love (1 John 4:8).

No one understands why such tragedy can exist in the world. There are things we will never be able to understand in this life until Christ’s return or after we reach our heavenly home.

However, there is one thing I am certain of more than anything else.

Jesus Christ loves us very deeply.

Our minds cannot comprehend how deep His love is. It is perfect. It is indescribable.

His love redeems sinners.

His love sets captives free.

His love heals.

His love comforts.

His love is enough.

As we turn toward God wholeheartedly with faith-filled prayer and truly live each day as conduits of the love of Christ, we will see change in our world.

The Lord is compassionate and gracious; slow to anger and abounding in loving-kindness. He will not always strive with us, nor will He keep His anger forever. He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His loving-kindness toward those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. Just as a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him. Psalm 103: 8-13

Our Heavenly Father,

I am in awe of Your goodness. Thank You for Your enduring mercy and love. Thank You for hearing and answering our prayers. I lift up the people who have been affected by recent tragedies and I’m asking You to encourage those who have experienced excruciating circumstances. I know You are filled with compassion for the hurting ones. I ask You to comfort them in their sorrows. Fill them with the hope and knowledge of Your eternal love. Keep them in the palm of Your hand and fill the hole in their hearts with Your love and peace. Bring beauty to replace the pain and restore hope in their lives. Let countless people turn to You and trust You during the storms of life. Thank You in advance for the miracles You will do in the days ahead. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

BASKING IN CHRIST’S LOVE AND PRESENCE

The sun looked magnificent and glorious as I was driving alone and talking softly to the Lord. As I was approaching the top of a hill, I saw the most breathtaking view of the mountains in the distance. It was majestic.

I’ve always loved the mountains and enjoyed this route more times than I could count; however, this day was different than anytime before. The splendor in the sky and the beauty of the mountains surrounding me were mesmerizing. The awesome wonder of God’s creation captured every fiber of my being. Christ’s presence came to me so powerfully that it felt heavenly in an inexpressible way. As my worship music played in the background, the voice of the Lord whispered words to my heart.

My love for you is higher and wider and more magnificent than these beautiful mountains.

My heart melted in His presence. Heaven touched me and drew me close to the heart of God. I basked in His great love for the rest of my trip.

Christ’s presence is the greatest gift of life and nothing satisfies the soul like spending time with Him.

Some days, distractions can rob us of the quietness we need. It’s very easy to be in a big hurry and miss these spectacular God moments. We don’t have to be driving through gorgeous scenery to bask in God’s glory. We can commune with the maker of the heavens at any moment of the day.

The love of Christ beckons us to open our hearts to Him. Jesus is waiting for each one of us to stop what we’re doing and rest in His perfect love. Our relationship with our Savior is better than anything else in life. No amount of money or success could ever compare to what we have in Christ. He is everything.

In the busyness of life, remember to slow down. Be quiet. Bask in the most perfect love you’ll ever find and let Christ’s presence wash your burdens away.

Our Beloved Jesus,

Thank You for Your amazing love which surpasses our understanding. Let us be strengthened with power through Your Spirit and let Your glory permeate our lives every day. Let us be rooted and grounded in Your love. Help us to comprehend more of the depth of Your great love for us and let us rest in Your presence continually. We love You and pray in Your name, Christ. Amen.

“That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3: 16-19

This devotion is a revised version of a previous “Live Abundantly Now” blog post.

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER: LOVE ONE ANOTHER

We are focusing on loving one another for the “National Day of Prayer” in America.

Our generation is living in an unprecedented time of hatred. Many have turned away from God because they don’t know that His true nature is love. God is love. (1 John 4:8).

The words in Matthew 22:39 reveal the Lord’s second greatest commandment: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” God has called us to love all people purely and unconditionally. It is by God’s amazing love and grace that souls will be drawn into a relationship with Jesus Christ.

His love is enough to conquer anything. Evil may be increasing on the earth, but love overpowers it all. As we love one another as Christ loves us, we will see the world begin to change.

Let’s pray for our nation and for all the nations of the world to grow in Christ’s love.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for loving us perfectly and not giving up on our nation. Keep Your hand upon our country and help us to love each other as You love us. Awaken countless souls with Your love and let the greatest spiritual awakening spread across our country. We pray in Christ’s name. Amen.

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” John 13:34

REFRESHING YOUR SOUL IN THE LOVE OF CHRIST

It was morning time. Christ’s presence could be felt strongly as I sat on my porch, reminding me of the refreshment that comes in communing with Christ. Christ’s voice enveloped my spirit and beckoned me to draw close to Him.

In my heart, it was though Christ was speaking these words: My heart yearns for you to sit at My feet. One glance from you makes My heart leap. I want your love more than anything else. All that your soul needs is found in Me and My love. Come enter into a beautiful love story with Me. Let My love carry you through life’s challenges. Come find refreshment and rest forever in My perfect love.

After a morning of stillness, I was refreshed once again by the love of Christ and ready for a new day of living in Him. The love of Christ is always the answer and truly the way to find peace in a chaotic world.

Beloved Jesus,

Thank You for refreshing our souls with Your love. Help us to draw near to You every day. Let us carry this message of Your beautiful love to a broken world that so desperately needs You. We love You and are waiting for Your return. I pray in Your mighty name, Jesus. Amen.

You have captivated my heart, my sister, my bride; you have captivated my heart with one glance of your eyes, with one jewel of your necklace.

THE PERFECT LOVE

The greatest love story of all time is the story of Jesus Christ and His gift to mankind. Christ died an agonizing death for us, so that we can be set free from the bondage of sin and live eternally. Jesus came so that we may have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10).

There’s no other love that can satisfy the soul as completely as Christ’s love.

Whatever is happening in your life today, I pray you will know you are treasured by God and I hope you find fulfillment in His perfect love.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your perfect love. Help us to be strengthened with the power of Your Holy Spirit. Let us be rooted and grounded in Christ’s love. Help us to comprehend the depth of the love of Christ and let us be filled up with the fullness of God. Let our souls be completely satisfied in Christ alone. We pray in Christ’s name.

“For this reason I bow my knees before the FATHER, from whom every family in Heaven and on Earth derives its name, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.”
